Developed by true aquatic hobbyists, Aqueon provides a wide range of aquarium solutions to help owners maintain healthy, life-sustaining environments for their pets.

The Challenge

As part of a larger family of brands under the Central Garden & Pet umbrella, Aqueon needed a new website that reflected their reinvigorated branding.

Learning the Culture of Aquatic Enthusiasts

The Aqueon website needed to serve aquarium owners and dealers, distributors, and sales representatives. To inspire the creative direction of the website, the Ascedia team immersed itself in the Aqueon brand to learn more about the culture of aquatic enthusiasts.

Efforts to empathize with Aqueon audiences included installing an Aqueon fish tank at the office and attending industry trade shows with the Aqueon team.

Diving into Data

Competitive research, user testing, and analytics guided creative recommendations for the website. The user journeys that Ascedia developed guided the website content structure and additional features, including aquatic “fun facts” that appear across the website.

Central Aquatics leveraged their in-house development team to implement Ascedia’s website design and content strategy recommendations.

Since the website’s launch, Ascedia has worked with Central Aquatics on an ongoing basis to refine the site’s SEO strategy and increase site traffic and engagement on the site.
