Gamification for the Pilot Passport Mobile App
Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA)
AOPA is a non-profit organization representing the largest aviation community in the world. Though they boast an active member community, AOPA wanted to grow their pipeline with a younger demographic.
AOPA tasked Ascedia to take their mobile application to the next level and engage with a younger demographic of pilots and aviation enthusiasts.
A re-imagined FourSquare check-in model exclusively for pilots: The new Pilot Passport unlocked high engagement within the AOPA Android and iOS apps.
Ascedia developed the Pilot Passport mobile app check-in game to engage both life-long members as well as a new audience.
UGC and Social Sharing
Pilots can add photos, provide a ratings, leave a comment, and share posts on social media.
Find Places to Fly
A radius driven search by city, state, airport name, or airport identifier pulls up airports. Airports can be filtered all the way down to individual airport amenities.
For each check-in and goal, Pilots earn points toward badges that are displayed on their profiles for a little friendly competition.
In just one month from launch, Pilot Passport saw the following results. The initial success is a testament to AOPA’s active community – but also to Ascedia’s smooth UX design and development that allowed users to take off without a hitch.
