Alto-Shaam

Creating a manufacturing website that converts engagement into action.

Project Brief.

Alto-Shaam is a leader in the commercial kitcken equipment industry and they needed a website that helped showcase their incredible products. Not only did Alto-Shaam want to redesign their site from a creative perspective, they were also keen on continuous upgrades/improvements to their content management system.

In 2018, Ascedia and Alto-Shaam launched a new website that brought their products lines and innovative technology to the forefront. Due to the performance and positive reception of the site, in 2023 Ascedia and Alto-Shaam launched a new version of the site, built in Kentico 13 Xperience, that contains some new UI additions but maintains the overall asthetic of previous site.

Project Solution.

We began this project with strategic planning, which laid the foundation for all work moving forward. During this process, we conducted competitive and content analyses, created user personas and journey maps to outline the website’s main audiences and their respective touchpoints on the site, conducted keyword research to help inform content strategy, gathered functionality and technology requirements and defined preliminary post-launch website goals.
Alto-Shaam has been using the Kentico Xperience CMS for nearly 10 years. At the time of the website rebuild in 2018, the Alto-Shaam team was comfortable with Kentico and had no reservations about rebuilding the site in the newest Kentico version. Kentico continues to enhance it's options for how content can be managed and we continue to take advantage of this today. When it was time to upgrade the tech stack again in 2023, we were able to leverage Kentico's newest features to create a consistent content managment experience for Alto-Shaam and maintain design consistency across the website.
The Alto-Shaam website integrates with a few external data sources to help bolster features on the website...
  • Widen - The integration with this digital asset management tool allows teams throughout Alto-Shaam to update product documents (images, manuals, support docs, etc) in one central locations and sync that data to the Kentico website. This helps reduce the number of user managing content in Kentico
  • Parts Diagrams - This internal database integration drives functionality the Parts Finder tool. Service technicians can use this tool to search product serial numbers and find SKUs of replacements parts they need
  • Open Street Maps - This map functionaity helps visually support how user interact with and find demos, reps and dealers in their local area/region.
Azure search is used to re-index website content nightly. With this integration we are able to more granularly label, categorize, tag content items in the site for a better search user experience.

Project Outcomes.

Through accessibility testing, heat-mapping and user testing we work together with Alto-Shaam to identify areas of opportunity to create a cycle of improvement on the site as well as see continuous growth in their online presence.
