If you’re running a business, listen up! Google has a great platform for your business called – you guessed it – Google My Business. In the wise words of Google

“Google My Business is a free and easy-to-use tool for businesses, brands, artists, and organizations to manage their online presence across Google, including Search and Maps. By verifying and editing your business information, you can both help customers find you and tell them the story of your business.”

Google provides a space for your business to exist on their search engine for free. On this search engine extension, users can quickly access your business hours, photos, reviews and more.

Setting up a Google My Business page is as easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Head to www.google.com/business/ and click “Start Now.”
  2. You will be directed to a map along with a prompt to enter your Business Name, Country, Address, and other information. Fill this out and click Continue to verify the information.
  3. Have Google mail you your verification code. You will have to wait for it to arrive in the physical mail in order to confirm that your business is where it says it is. Once you have your code, follow the instructions on the mailing.

And... that’s it! You now have a Google My Business page. We recommend adding photos and hours of operation to the page right away so you can tell your customers how to best reach your company and give them a visual.

Your Google My Business page will give you a chance to actively respond to reviews and interact with your customers, which in turn will help you understand how they interact with you! You can find how customers search for your business, where they view your business on Google (through Maps or Search), and how they interact with your listing (whether it’s through a visit to your site, a request for directions, or a call from their mobile device).
