Master Lock

Building an Ultra-Secure Digital Lockbox

Master Lock has long been synonymous with a safe way to protect the items that are most important to its customers. The global company wanted to create a completely secure storage system for users to save important information and access it on their phones and computers. Because Master Lock is known for security products, the solution had to be secure, scalable, multilingual and accessible. As mobile technology continued to evolve, the app needed to remain compliant with iOS and Android platforms and provide enhanced functionality to keep users engaged.

A New Way To Store Information - Securely

Ascedia designed an ultra-secure, high-availability, responsive website and iPhone/Android apps that allow users to store notes of information that can be accessed from any device. Similar to a digital safe-deposit box, users can quickly and easily access their confidential data anytime, anywhere. Ascedia's information architect developed custom programming that keeps a user’s information secure with various levels and layers of encryption protection, including 256-bit SSL security that offers the highest level of browser security.

As the app grew in popularity, it was expanded to include passwords, documents, reminder notifications, help templates and the ability to connect with Master Lock's digital and physical products. Key features include:

  • Login protected
  • SSL-protected and PCI compliant
  • Database encryption
  • Payment processor integration
  • Mobile-friendly
  • iOS and Android native apps
  • Multilingual support

The suite of web-based and native mobile software undergoes a rigorous annual security review and audit by leading security firms. This ensures that not only is the application is secure, but the hosting environment is completely protected as well.

Over 225,000 Users & 4 Million Secure Records

The success of the application has allowed Master Lock to expand its dominance in physical security products into digital and digitally-connected products. After the successful launch of the responsive site and respective apps, Master Lock engaged Ascedia for Search Engine Optimization and Pay-Per-Click campaigns to drive additional traffic to the new site. Since launch:

  • More than 225,000 users
  • Stores over 4 million secure records in its SQL Server 2008 database
  • Over 1.5 million visitors in 2015, a 17% increase over 2014
  • Nearly 700,000 passwords currently stored
  • Over 209,230 Master Lock Vault downloads since 2012
