CES4Health, a health related community - 11/17/2009
Ascedia recently launched a new website for CES4Health. CES4Health.info is a free, online mechanism for peer-reviewing, publishing and disseminating products of health-related community-engaged scholarship in forms other than journal articles. It is a component of Community-Campus Partnerships for Health's Faculty for the Engaged Campus initiative, funded in part by the Fund for the Improvement of Post-secondary Education in the US Department of Education.

An author can submit a product to the website, which then gets sent to a customized admin tool where the editor assigns the product and accompanying application to an associate editor who then assigns peer reviewers to review them. The peer reviewers review the product and accompanying application online in the admin tool and then complete an online review form. Each reviewer has the ability to recommend that the product and application be accepted, accepted with revisions, or rejected for publication on the CES4Health.info site.

The assigned associate editor considers the reviewer ratings and comments and makes a recommendation to the Editor who is responsible for a final decision regarding publication. If the product is accepted for publication, it is pushed live via the admin tool to the CES4Health.info site. If accepted with revisions, the author has the opportunity to read comments provided by the peer reviewers  and resubmit the product and application to CES4Healtth.info for a second review.

The CES4Health.info web site allows users to search publications by category, author, type, topics, and methodological approach. It also allows users to sign up to become a peer-reviewer. CES4Health.info reviewers have diverse areas of expertise who are based in colleges and universities, community organizations, professional associations, and non-governmental organizations.
