NAME AND TITLE

Ashley Remington -- Account Coordinator

MY TYPICAL WORKDAY

No one day is ever the same for me (besides pouring a cup of coffee first thing when I get to the office)! I tend to have random projects thrown at me daily and serve in a supporting role for various account managers. Communication and relationship building are very important to my “every day.” In a typical day, I spend my time responding to my clients’ emails and questions, working through any issues their websites are experiencing and coordinating maintenance requests to fix them. I attend strategy and planning meetings, hold status calls with clients, and engage in internal meetings regularly, all using an agile approach to get to know our clients and create the best possible product for them. I also spend time coordinating quote requests for new projects, producing estimates, preparing meeting notes, and even pitch in writing an occasional blog post for Ascedia’s website every once in a while. From communication to marketing to sales, a variety of activities are incorporated into my day.

HOW I CHOSE MY CAREER PATH

Honestly, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life after graduating from college, other than that I wanted to work with people and work in an innovative environment. I found the perfect combination of all the things I love to do right here at Ascedia. I love marketing, anything digital, and especially love working with people and helping them succeed. Working in account services for a digital marketing/web development agency, I get to communicate with people daily and help solve problems through innovative solutions. I love to get to know people and learn what motivates them, and I get to do this with each and every client project as we develop a unique digital marketing and website strategy for them. I love that I get to work towards creating a superior website that my clients are proud of and passionate about. My career enables me to follow my goal to establish positive and lasting relationships.

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT ASCEDIA

Everything about Ascedia made me excited to work here. This is my first “after-college” job and I couldn’t have been more lucky. Graduating, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do, and Ascedia offered the perfect combination of skills that I want to apply to a career, as well as the ideal working environment that I was looking for (plus, Ascedia’s portfolio of work was extremely impressive). The culture here is unlike any other: friendly, collaborative and casual, yet professional in our work. My favorite thing about working here is the flexibility in trying new things and the amount of support for new ideas. No idea is a bad idea. If you want to try something new, the door is open; all you’ve got to do is ask. And of course, my other favorite thing is all of the friendly and extremely talented people that I get to work with. It is such a fun place, full of opportunity.

FIRST JOB

My first job was working at my parents' grocery store (located in small town USA: Manawa, WI). I did everything there, from being a cashier, stocking the shelves, and cooking in the deli/bakery to managing the store, planning & attending events, handling inventory, bookkeeping, and eventually small marketing and advertising efforts. This job taught me everything about working hard and fueled my passion for working with people and making a difference in my community.

BEST PIECE OF CAREER/PROFESSIONAL ADVICE I'VE RECEIVED

Years ago, my Grandpa said, “All you have to do is be a good person.” I live off of this motto and apply it every day to both my personal and professional life. Do good things for others, do great work for others, and the benefits will follow. I try to be the best person I can be, and I try to do the best work that I can. I hope that my positivity and integrity motivates others to take positive actions, make ethical choices, and be good in what they do for others.

PERSONAL HERO

My mom :)

FAVORITE MILWAUKEE HANGOUT

I just moved here, so I haven’t picked out my favorite place yet, but I do spend a lot of time at the Colectivo cafes around Milwaukee. I love, love, love coffee.

LAST BOOK READ

Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

PERSON I'D MOST LIKE TO MEET (LIVING OR DEAD)

Abraham Lincoln. I feel like he’d have the best, most honest life advice.

FAMILY

I’ve got three sisters (my poor dad). Our dog Lucky is almost 20 years old (and actually very lucky). I am a proud aunt to five nieces and nephews.

WHAT I DO IN MY SPARE TIME

Explore new places. I love to travel to new places (whether it be right here in Milwaukee, in Wisconsin, out of state, or even traveling abroad). In my free time, I enjoy visiting new areas I’ve never been to before, going to new restaurants and trying new food, visiting natural attractions, or even going to museums or historic attractions. I love learning the story behind each of the places I visit and hearing what makes them special and unique.

SECRET TALENT

I play the piano. I’m also really good at the game "Dance Dance Revolution."

MOST MEANINGFUL ACCOMPLISHMENT

Working with a community elder in an assisted living home for over a year and writing a printed narrative of his entire “Life Story”. I continue to be heavily involved in the Life Story program and work to expand this program so that more people engage in this special opportunity/relationship that means the world to the elder (and their family).
