What makes Ascedia special? Our people! Every week, we'll introduce you to a member of our team so you can get to know us a little better.
NAME AND TITLE
Don Robbins -- Account Supervisor
MY TYPICAL WORKDAY
My desk is on the 3rd floor, yet the majority of my project teams are on the 2nd. My Fitbit told me I average 30+ floors/day going from one meeting to the next, so I’d say I maintain an active lifestyle at work. I also enjoy having multiple projects going on at once, forcing my brain to switch gears and keep moving forward.
HOW I CHOSE MY CAREER PATH
I was first attracted to the field of advertising because of its constantly changing landscape. At Ascedia I feel that I have achieved that exciting working environment in the digital space. I love working with rapidly evolving technology, which requires solutions for the next device, platform, or popular media outlet.
MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT ASCEDIA
Chris Wemmert. I somewhat joke, but my first interactions with him were pivotal in my beginnings with Ascedia. I found Chris along with Amy (Hoekman) Grabowski at a career fair at UW-Milwaukee, and felt right at home with them. After almost 5 years, I continue to enjoy the family atmosphere I feel each morning I walk into the office.
University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee - Bachelor of Arts, Advertising
HIGH SCHOOL MASCOT
Busboy at Daddy Maxwell’s Diner in Williams Bay, WI
BEST PIECE OF CAREER/PROFESSIONAL ADVICE I'VE RECEIVED
Focusing on the problem is often where people waste a majority of their time. It’s when you can quickly move to identifying the solution and executing it that progress is made.
My mother. She has a compassion for people that I strive to achieve and a sense of humor that is second to none.
FAVORITE MILWAUKEE HANGOUT
If I’m out for a drink, I’m usually on Wells street at This Is It. I enjoy the diverse crowd and quick-witted bartenders.
LAST BOOK READ
I don’t remember…need to get on that. Thanks for the reminder!
PERSON I'D MOST LIKE TO MEET (LIVING OR DEAD)
Both sets of my grandparents when they were in their 40s -- I’d love to sit with them today to gain advice and hear about their past directly from them.
I am number 7 of 8 kids. 5 older brothers, an older sister and a younger sister. I am the only one not living in my hometown of Williams Bay, WI and therefore am considered the rebel city-dweller.
WHAT I DO IN MY SPARE TIME
Travel. I love putting myself out of my comfort zone and experiencing new places. The bigger the language barrier, the better. Also, I would never shy away from a good road trip.
Singing/dancing (in the car, alone of course)
MOST MEANINGFUL ACCOMPLISHMENT
Depends on the meaning of life.
