What makes Ascedia special? Our people! Every week, we'll introduce you to a member of our team so you can get to know us a little better.
NAME AND TITLE
Dan Vignieri -- Technical Team Lead
MY TYPICAL WORKDAY
Each day kicks off with a coffee from across the street at Colectivo (I'm up to over 165,000 loyalty points over there), followed by bouts of coding, contemplation, team collaboration and sprinkles of magic.
HOW I CHOSE MY CAREER PATH
I've always had an affinity for technology and a passion for creating and crafting things (believe it or not, there is actually a great deal of creativity that goes into writing code and architecting technical solutions) so I kind of just fell into this career path naturally.
MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT ASCEDIA
I love the genuine respect that Ascedia has for supporting a healthy work/life balance. That seems to be quite a rare thing in this industry.
BBA Management Information Systems -- University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
HIGH SCHOOL MASCOT
I don't recall my exact first job, but I was always up to some kind of entrepreneurial scheming and money-making endeavor starting at a very early age.
BEST PIECE OF CAREER/PROFESSIONAL ADVICE I'VE RECEIVED
Keep it simple.
Not sure I have any true heroes...I do deeply respect quite a few people, though. My parents are great people. Scott Hanselman is pretty cool also.
FAVORITE MILWAUKEE HANGOUT
It's hard to pick only one. Milwaukee is so unduly underrated and there are just so many great places to hang out here.
LAST BOOK READ
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
PERSON I'D MOST LIKE TO MEET (LIVING OR DEAD)
Two kids (a boy and a girl, ages 4 and nearly-2, respectively) and a wonderful wife.
WHAT I DO IN MY SPARE TIME
That completely depends on the day/week/season/moon phase/etc. I'm one of those people with an endless obsession for varying hobbies and pursuits. Lately I'm into all things related to woodworking. (BTW, got a walnut tree I can have to mill into some lumber?)
Well that's a good question. I am fairly secretly talented in the art of being able to answer a question in a way that doesn't actually provide an answer to the question that was originally asked. (See what I did there?)
MOST MEANINGFUL ACCOMPLISHMENT
My two children. There is nothing more important to me than those two incredible little human beings. Helping to guide them along in their journey and seeing their worlds expand is deeply satisfying.
