NAME AND TITLE

Jeff Betz -- Interactive Art Director

MY TYPICAL WORKDAY

My typical workday is fairly non-typical from one day to the next, which is exactly how I like it. Most every day is a wonderland of creative delight. I have the privilege of doing one of many extremely fun tasks such as: video production and post-production, 2D animation, 3D animation and modeling, photography, sound design, music composition, web animation, UX, or web design. Most days I seriously can't believe I get paid to do this.

HOW I CHOSE MY CAREER PATH

After graduating, I realized that jobs in music composition were scarce. The web attracted me as a medium with so many creative possibilities, combining interactivity, art, animation, video, photography, and sound. I started learning JavaScript and Flash in 2000. I was hooked and never looked back.

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT ASCEDIA

In 2001, I was working as an unpaid intern trying to get experience in the web industry. Dan Early offered me a part-time internship where I actually got paid! Over the years, what's kept me here is the wonderful people, the fun work and the constant opportunities to leverage technology and design in new and interesting ways.
