What makes Ascedia special? Our people! Every week, we'll introduce you to a member of our team so you can get to know us a little better.

NAME AND TITLE

Chris Remington -- Director of Client Strategy

MY TYPICAL WORKDAY

On any given day I can be found hunting for new business, writing proposals, networking, meeting with our team to scope and quote, talking with clients and prospects, updating Zoho, sweating or freezing in the Sales Cave, researching industry trends, and promoting Ascedia and the great things we can do.

HOW I CHOSE MY CAREER PATH

I got into the Dot Com world as the boom was starting and never looked back. I also have extensive higher education experience from working in admissions, college marketing and teaching adult students. My role here gives me the opportunity to combine these two passions.

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT ASCEDIA

I’ve known Dan, Mark, Olga and Stacy from our time together at Mark Travel. We’ve stayed in touch over the years and I’m glad that I finally ended up working with them again. My favorite things about Ascedia include the depth and breadth of our team’s abilities, our extensive portfolio of killer work and roster of satisfied long-term clients.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in communication from St. Norbert College; Master of Science in Administration from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame

HIGH SCHOOL MASCOT

Lancer

FIRST JOB

Cashier/stock boy at Convenient Food Mart in Kenosha, WI

BEST PIECE OF CAREER/PROFESSIONAL ADVICE I'VE RECEIVED

I’ve always believed in the Golden Rule – treat others as you’d like to be treated.

PERSONAL HERO

My professional mentor from my higher ed days, Matt Flanigan. He taught me so much about life, marketing, relationship building and higher education.

FAVORITE MILWAUKEE HANGOUT

Although not technically in Milwaukee, I have a long-standing love affair with Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy. I’ve seen tons of amazing shows there since the late ‘70’s. I was standing backstage there near Stevie Ray Vaughan about an hour before he was killed in that terrible helicopter accident in August of 1990.

LAST BOOK READ

I’m reading comedian Jim Gaffigan’s book Food: A Love Story now and have The Power of Why: Breaking Out in a Competitive Marketplace queued up next.

PERSON I'D MOST LIKE TO MEET (LIVING OR DEAD)

Jimmy Buffett or Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters

FAMILY

Wife Kati, daughter Blair (17), son Colin (12), and two dogs: Lulu and Oliver

WHAT I DO IN MY SPARE TIME

Concerts. I've seen over 400 shows.

SECRET TALENT

Useless trivia. From one-hit wonders to world geography, if it’s useless and trivial I probably know it.

MOST MEANINGFUL ACCOMPLISHMENT

Beyond the obvious family, it’d be finishing my first marathon in London in 2014 or getting a Master’s degree - two things Young Chris would never have thought possible.
