What makes Ascedia special? Our people! Every week, we'll introduce you to a member of our team so you can get to know us a little better.
NAME AND TITLE
Alison Helf -- Digital Strategist -- Audience Engagement Specialist
MY TYPICAL WORKDAY
It’s different every day – I usually come in and shoot off some emails and schedule some email marketing campaigns, then I meet with my teams. After that, I dive into some PPC campaigns, social media content, or reporting. It is rare I have a day with no meetings, so I usually have a meeting or four ranging from discussing user journeys, breaking down site performance, brainstorming summits, or listening to a webinar about Accessibility. For lunch I like to order a poké bowl from FreshFin (they aren’t paying me for the promotion; however, I wouldn’t be mad if they did... and they could just pay me in poké bowls… ). The afternoon usually fills up with creating Facebook ads and running accessibility reports and organizing data.
HOW I CHOSE MY CAREER PATH
I’ve bounced around different careers over the last few years. I worked in the entertainment industry booking bands for high profile events and festivals, I’ve worked in radio, I’ve worked for Harley-Davidson... and now I’m here!
MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT ASCEDIA
Ascedia has the perfect environment for me. I love working on multiple clients and feeling that I have the ability to be collaborative as well as a leader in my current role. I learn something new every day!
I graduated from Carroll University in 2013 with a BS in Communication with Public Relations emphasis and Minors in Marketing and Graphic Design. I also studied abroad in London for a semester in 2012.
HIGH SCHOOL MASCOT
I worked in the Box office at the Cedarburg Performing Arts Center. I got paid to do my homework: can’t be mad about that! Plus I got first dibs on tickets to concerts and performances coming through the building (front row for Don McLean)!
BEST PIECE OF CAREER/PROFESSIONAL ADVICE I'VE RECEIVED
Always ask what you can do better on and improve on; if you aren't improving, you aren’t growing.
(Cliché alert) Probably my parents. They are both accomplished in what they do, motivate and inspire me to do well in life, and to not take things too seriously…. Oh, and taught me how to make a mean Bloody Mary.
FAVORITE MILWAUKEE HANGOUT
O'Lydia’s wings are super underrated and they have trivia on Wednesday nights.
LAST BOOK READ
Girl on the Train. I'm about to start Devil in the White City.
PERSON I'D MOST LIKE TO MEET (LIVING OR DEAD)
My fiancé, James, and our massive Bernese Mountain Dog, Taylor
WHAT I DO IN MY SPARE TIME
I am a musician around the Southeastern Wisconsin area, so I play gigs here and there... and watch my friends perform too!
I don’t know if I really have one... I knit?! I can also make a mean friendship bracelet.
MOST MEANINGFUL ACCOMPLISHMENT
I get out of bed (most days)... #NotAMorningPerson
